11.2 Under Armour logo

  1. Describe in detail the image, and why you believe the company selected the brand elements (color, size, layout, character, etc.) that they did. Your analysis should include a brief description of the competitors and how your selected brand logo compares.  In other words, why did they choose the brand elements that they did

The Under Armour brand is one of the most known and popular athletic brands in the entire would. When it comes to the logo it is shaped kind of like an H with a loop, the shape is actually a U on top and an A on the bottom. The combined letters are very unique and is actually very satisfying to the eye. The symbol of the logo has attached meaning to their logo such as wealth and luxury just like the brand Rolex. The Under Armour products are luxury that represent athleticism and speed. The color of the logo is just black but that’s okay for it is very simple and looks good on clothing products compared to societies style of fashion. When it comes to Under Armour’s competitor such as Adidas and Nike they too are neutral with Black and white but they’re product isn’t as creative and unique with having their company name inside and disguised in the logo.

2. Describe the target market (ie. what segments are being targeted)?  How do you know this is the target market? Did the company make good decisions to reach the target market?

When looking at the logo you can tell that the people that are being targeted are people who are athletic and care about looking good with fashion. The logo is a premium look that is eye catching for people and is desired by people. You can tell that these people are being targeted because the brand is for athletic people and when you compare different athletic brands not much of them have good looking logos that you feel comfortable to but on a product and wear it at a fancy event like Under Armour. The company did a good job choosing/designing their logo for it is unique and brings out a luxury look.

3. Does it work? Why or why not? Any general observations?

When looking at Under Armour’s logo, you can see that it works. Mot only is the product being worn for athletics but it is also being used outside of their target for people who dress more formal. Because of the products design it doesn’t look bummy and only for jocks but also for people who attend a fancy party. Overall The logo works well for their target market and in fact works so well that people outside of their target market find the product appealing and enjoyable just because of the logo and how it is designed shape and color based.
